ΤΟ ΤΡΑΓΟΥΔΙ ΤΗΣ ΑΓΓΛΙΑΣ

«Δραστικές» αποφάσεις έλαβαν Άγγλοι σχολιαστές, βλέποντας την χώρα τους να μην έχει επίσημο τραγούδι για το Παγκόσμιο Κύπελλο της Νότιας Αφρικής. Το γεγονός αυτό, μάλιστα, συμβαίνει για πρώτη φορά μετά το Μουντιάλ του 1966, οπότε και τα «Λιοντάρια» αναδείχθηκαν παγκόσμιοι πρωταθλητές. Κάποιες από τους δημοφιλέστερους σπορτκάστερ στο Νησί ένωσαν τις φωνές του προκειμένου να δημιουργήσουν έναν ανεπίσημο ύμνο.

Οι Μάρτιν Τάιλερ, Ίαν Νταρκ και Ρομπ Χάουθορν από το Sky Sports μαζί με τους Γκάι Μόουμπαϊ, Στιβ Γουίλσον και Σάιμον Μπραδερτον από το BBC και τους Κλάιβ Τάιλντεσλεϊ, Πίτερ Ντάρι και Τζον Τσάμπιον από το ITV είναι οι φωνές του “Let’s Hear It England”. Στο τραγούδι συμμετέχει ακόμη η ανδρική χορωδία Cotswold αλλά και οι Πίτερ Μπράκλεϊ και Στιβ Μπάνγιαρντ.

Ο Ίαν Νταρκ, του οποίου αγαπημένο τραγούδι ήταν το “Back Home” που… συνόδευσε την εθνική ομάδα το 1970 στο Μουντιάλ του Μεξικού, δήλωσε για την προσπάθεια του ίδιου και των συναδέλφων του: «Είναι πιασιάρικη μελωδία και ελπίζουμε οι οπαδοί να τον τραγουδήσουν φέτος το καλοκαίρι στα γήπεδα». Και φυσικά, το τραγούδι τελειώνει με την Αγγλία να κατακτά το Παγκόσμιο Κύπελλο… στα πέναλτι!

Ωστόσο οι σχολιαστές πιθανότατα να αντιμετωπίσουν ανταγωνισμό στην προσπάθεια τους να αναρριχηθούν στα βρετανικά τσαρτς, αφού φήμες θέλουν το Ρόμπι Γουίλιαμς να βρίσκεται σε διαδικασία επανέκδοσης του «Three Lions»! Επιπλέον ο ράπερ Τζον Μπαρνς που μαζί με τους New Order είχε δημιουργήσει το «World In Motion» (Μουντιάλ 1990, Ιταλία), θα κάνει ένα ρεκτιφιέ στο τραγούδι για τις ανάγκες διαφημιστικού σποτ, προωθώντας παράλληλα και την αρχική έκδοση του τραγουδιού.
